Boot options for Valence systems w/ ASUS BIOS

For when you are unable to find desired boot option for Valence systems using ASUS BIOS.

Step-by-step guide

Apologies in advance for the pictures; this step is typically done locally with the system.

  1. Reboot system, strike 'del' key repeatedly to reach BIOS menu

  2. Press 'F7' to access 'Advanced Mode(F7)'; then navigate to 'Boot' tab and scroll all the way down until you see 'Boot Option Priorities'

I have one drive installed, and a USB plugged in that contains the ISO (OS) files I want to install; the installation requires I install in non-UEFI mode. As you can see, the non-UEFI option is not shown in the boot option order. I can always select it from the 'Boot Override' option, but if you are installing an OS such as Windows that may require the ISO (OS) drive to be set as 1st boot priority/option, keep reading this guide (smile).

I cannot even see if if I try to use the 'drop down' for the 'Boot Options'.

  3. Enter 'Hard Drive BBS Priorities' and use the dropdown to select the non-UEFI boot option as the 1st boot option.

Here, I can see the non-UEFI boot option for the USB that contains my ISO (OS) files.

In the image above, I now have the non-UEFI and UEFI boot option. I have tried to have the drive and the non-UEFI option appear together on 'Boot Options', but it appears that I cannot do that...

  4. Go ahead and 'Save and Exit/Reset' under the 'Exit' tab. BE SURE to switch back to the drive that you install the OS for, or your next reboot will not find it.

Another note: HIGHLY recommended a complete power drain if you run into any issues with the system hanging/booting. It may not handle 'save and reset' on occasions.

  1. Power off system
  2. Unplug power cable (switch off PSU brick if applicable)
  3. Press+hold power button for ~10-15 seconds
  4. Plug power cable back in
  5. Power on system
