Note(s)

ASUS

IntelRCSetup > Miscellaneous Configuration > Active Video

SupermicroPCIe/PCI/PnP > VGA Priority > On/Offboard
Tyan

CORRECT = Platform Configuration > Miscellaneous Configuration > Active Video

WRONG = Advanced > Onboard Device Configuration >

The WRONG method will disable VGA all together defaulting the system to OFFBOARD; this could result in a CMOS reset should the GPU ever be removed
Note:

Regarding the general rule of thumb above, this can vary based on hardware and is extremely important to remember if and when additional GPUs are added to a system.
