Tools Required

Step 1 - Unscrew CPU hold-down frame in 3-2-1 order

1 - 321 Label.mp42 - Unscrew hold-down frame.mp4

Step 2 - Lift CPU guide frame from outer latch corners

3 - Lift CPU guide frame 1.mp44 - Lift CPU guide frame 2.mp4

Step 3- Remove CPU from protruding tab, and then by the sides of the plastic CPU frame

Be careful NOT to touch bottom CPU contacts, and to not drop CPU and damage exposed Motherboard CPU pins

5 - Remove CPU 1.mp4

Done.

DO NOT leave Motherboard CPU pins exposed too long, as dust/debris will cause improper contact- this could cause system to not POST (power on) and would be a critically failed system that would require System RMA. System RMA is typically 3-5 weeks depending on shipping and part availibility.

If you are re-seating the CPU (uninstalling, then reinstalling to ensure secure contact between CPU and Motherboard CPU pins), then be sure to check for any bent pins before re-installing the CPU.

If you are preparing the motherboard for shipment, use a CPU tray cover. It is always included in motherboard boxes pre-installed on the motherboard.

Bent pins + Installing CPU = pressed down bent CPU pins that can no longer be repaired

Bent Motherboard CPU pin example

Bent Motherboard CPU pins will typically result in motherboard repair or replacement costs.
