Power Drain System

Power Drain System

When we ask you to ‘power drain' the system, we want you to drain all electricity from the system.

Steps

  1. Power off the system

    • If your system is hung, or powered on but does not have keyboard/mouse activity, press and holding the power button for 5 seconds will force the system to power off

  2. Switch Power Supply to ‘Off’ (o)

  3. Unplug power cable from Power Supply

  4. Press and hold the power button for ~30 seconds

Steps 1-4… and then plugging the power back, switching the power supply on (I), and then pressing the power button.

Notes

  • If your system experienced an abrupt shutdown due to overheating, then power draining the system will not help your system power on any faster. The system needs to cool off to safe operating temperatures before they can power on again.

  • Memory leaks or hangs sometimes just needs the system to shut off completely to flush out lingering problematic processes
